WCC Story (Part 1)

Part one of a WCC story

AI clinic

So, nothing about my life was/is normal, which means gifts aren't either.

Early one year I found a notice about an AI clinic within a reasonable driving distance for a change.

Note: to those of us with animals, AI is Artificial Insemination, not Artificial Intelligence, and of course this clinic was the equine version.

I talked to Benny about it, and said I really wanted to go. I had several broodmares and a stallion at the time, and wished to be more knowledgeable about the subject.

The next thing I know, I jump into my truck to head into the office, and find a card in my seat. It's our anniversary, and the card had a note inside that said "make plans for your horse deal in Springfield" lol

We ended up staying with my brother Danny, his wife Janey, and their daughter Julia.

They had recently moved into their beautiful, newly built home.

They had built a large garage on the property years earlier, and did not attach the house exactly, but instead built a boardwalk between the two, which was basically a bridge because there is no flat land in the Ozarks ;)

The clinic started early in the morning, and I was trying to be really quiet and not disturb anyone, so after a goodbye kiss, I snuck out the side door, headed across the bridge to the garage, to get to the driveway, where my truck was parked.

Ohhhhh nooooo, the garage door is locked, I head back to the house, realizing just as I grab the doorknob that I had, of course, locked the door behind me! Shit!!!

This was before cell phones 😁

I look over the railing, evaluating my choices.

I either stand there waiting for someone to stir, or jump. For me, knocking on the door and waking them up was just not something I would do.

So, I climb over the railing and jump, without turning an ankle, go me! Lol!

I had an absolutely amazing first day, it was simply fascinating to me.
