Charlie Diaries - June 25, 2020

A year!!! A YEAR!! That's how long I've been training on my cowgirl,  and do you know how much progress I've made???? Any guesses??? About this much,  lordy, cowgirls are easy to love but they are harder than hell to train!!!

She's been training on me, too......but I wanted to do all those things, exactly how she told me to do them.............

Some of my peeps from the city have said things like, "oh my gosh she's like a different dog".

What in the world do they mean by that??? I've always been very well behaved and responsive to commands.

Stop laughing!!!!!!

What a year this has been.

We've done so many things,  mostly chores,  but don't tell her I said that.

I help, like a lot. I pick up limbs. I sweep. I am the most fabulous guard dog. I am a wonderful listener,  never tell secrets, and give the best hugs. Heck, I even try to help her shower!  She's less than appreciative of that one!

First of all, I fell in love with several long face ones. They are sooooo cool!! A special bonus was getting a new baby one!!!  He's so cute, so sweet,  and so friendly.  We have a great time together.

There has been a plethora of adventures, hiking,  road trips, ,  meeting lots of new friends,  farm pond swimming, discovering horse cereal,  and sharing snacks with my long face buddies, and my cowgirl.

Wildlife watching is always on the agenda,  the snorty things, the rocks with heads and legs,  the slim red doggies, the squirrels........did you know some of them can fly????? It's crazy!!  Seeing countless birds flying around,  and oh, chasing those damn raccoons!!

There have been countless nightly possessions, belly rubs, peanut butter filled Kongs, muddy paw prints,  baths,  tons of hugs, and hundreds of zoomies!!!!

Ahhhhhh, farm living is the life for me!!

Now, some missteps have occurred,  too..... the pen escape weekend,  the dropping in on the neighbors uninvited, the black and blue ankle I caused when the zoomies took over my mind, and the occasional temporary deafness........but we try to not dwell on such things.

I got to experience southern hospitality and the yumminess of fish frys at Neighbor Guy's, where I met a whole new group of neat peeps.

I also got to attend the Ensz Christmas Party. Wowzer,  sooooooo many people!!

I love them and they love me!!!!!

Btw, meeting them helps explain my cowgirl. 😂😂

One of the projects this year was reviewing some of my history. It was discovered that not just one, but two families had failed me. I was on my third name by the time I came to live with my cowgirl and fourth home. No wonder I was unsettled!!!  My cowgirl got all kinds of mad when she found out I had been abandoned not once, but twice. Just so you know,  cowgirls, at least mine, don't get riled up easily,  but when they do...... Katie, bar the door!!!!!

She said people should do research,  and lots of it before ever getting a dog, and when they get one it should be a lifelong commitment!  She was talking with her teeth clenched again,  and her eyes leaked a little when I hugged her and she told me I would ever have to deal with that idiocy ever again!!

I have a microchip but when we called to change it, we couldn't because we didn't have the right password.  Those people still think I'm  "Scruffy"!

Ha! As if!  I'm  Charlie,  and I'm glossy!

I think I'm headed back to see my buddy Doc Ed for a new chip.

My diaries have been sporadic because my cowgirl's been really distracted working on $%##@#$ other stuff. The good news is I'm still getting my favorite,  over medium eggs, every morning!!

I keep hearing about somebody named Rona but my life hasn't changed,  and she needs to chill out. My cowgirl wants to go on an island trip and this $##@$%%%  idiot Rona is somehow stopping that. Weird, because I didn't know anybody could stop a cowgirl.  Oh well, I hope Rona gets over herself soon, because an island sounds positively amazing!!!  Uh, I get to go, right??? Hmmm, seems I heard her mention a board, but what would that have to do with a trip????  Sigh, now I'm a little worried.............

Thanks for following along! Stay tuned, there's more to come!!
