Dream's Pregnancy

For the record, breeding horses is not for the faint of heart, nor for anyone who isn't cowgirl stubborn.

The youngest horse I raised is a three year old, that translates to not getting a mare in foal in 2016..... why, do I breed horses????? Why???? Sigh....... I'll try again next year!

Then in 2017.....the rebreed fee is HOW MUCH???? Sure, it makes perfect sense for you to charge mare owners a rebreed fee that's equal to the stud fee. Kick us while we're down, we love that!!

Different stud chosen......., no pregnancy!

Why don't I just burn a huge wad of cash, and have someone kick me in the gut??? Damnit!!!!

2018 New mare, booked to a previously used stud, whose get I like very much.......but I was failed yet again........seriously, am I stupid???? Do I like disappointment? Am I just insane?? Or???? WTH is wrong with me??

2019 and FINALLY stubbornness has paid off and I am the proud owner of a pregnant mare!!!

Dream cooperated this year after thumbing her nose at me last year.

Yesterday was the big day, and I couldn't wait to see the ultrasound one minute, and dreaded seeing it the next.

The equine gods took pity on me and I was thrilled to see a 15 day embryo on that screen.

I had a progesterone test done, hopefully she has good levels, but it's easy enough to supplement that if necessary. A Caslick was performed to help insure a successful pregnancy. Now it's just a matter of waiting, and planning little Dreamer's show career, because horse breeders are highly skilled in long term planning, lol.
